Concert Orchestra, part of the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, closed out the 2009-2010 year at Orchestra Hall on May 2.
As concertmaster, Elena helped tune up the orchestra.

As one of the top users (or at least it feels that way), we were convinced we should be at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Maple Grove Library on May 22. We listened to some brief speeches and then watched the scissors do their work. This panorama shows one person three times.
Finally we got inside to hit the books.

All in all, a very fun time.
The wolves kicked of the program with the flag ceremony.

It was only one year and it went very fast. Brynn’s small preschool classed finished their year with a cute program. Follow the video link for a bit of the show.

We had a wonderful time yesterday with friends and neighbors. Theater for the Thirsty, a local theater group with Jeremiah and Vanessa Gamble presented “My Name is Daniel” to an eager audience. Afterward we enjoyed lots of food, although the rain forced us into the garage and the houses. Thanks everyone for attending and making it a wonderful day. Also for all the prep work, we couldn’t do something like this without so many helpful families. God is good.
The last day of school was an opportunity to visit the local police station. The Maple Grove Police Department is only a couple miles from our house and Michael was more than willing to give us a tour of the darker side of town.
Michael is a community service officer today, but training for a career in police work. From the kids’ perspective, he was a very big guy.
We we’re able to see the underground “bat cave” which helped us appreciate the size of the police force in Maple Grove.
By this time, the kids were a bit “unruly” and therefore had to be “processed”. First the pat down.
The kids were photographed and placed in a holding cell.
Unfortunately, their behavior didn’t change.
Off to County.
Today I suggested we pull the training wheels off the bike. Brynn was agreeable and off they went. I’m used to having a sore back after these episodes, holding on the seat and running down the street. Amazingly, it took only two tries and Brynn was on her own. Click here for the video.
